If you’ve never been to our practice before, here are two easy routes you could take:
- Head south on Main St, then turn left onto NC-55 E. Continue for 3.1 miles, then turn left onto Judd Pkwy. After another 1.3 miles, turn right onto Castlepointe Dr. Turn right again onto Galt Ave, then right again into our parking lot. We’re at 1117 Galt Ave.
- If you’re more on the east side of Holly Springs, you could instead take Bass Lake Rd southeast out of town. Turn right onto James Slaughter Rd, then left onto Stewart St. Turn left onto Judd Pkwy, and then get ready for the same triple right turn into our parking lot as in the above directions.
How Much Local History Do You Know?
Holly Springs has a rich history dating back to the early 1800s, when it began as a small village centered around a crossroads. Early developments included a general store, sawmill, cotton gin, and the Holly Springs Baptist Church, established in 1822. The village grew with the addition of the Masonic Lodge and Holly Springs Academy, though its progress stalled after the Civil War, leaving it economically devastated and largely abandoned by 1871. In 1877, the Town of Holly Springs was officially established, spurred by businessman George Benton Alford, who revitalized the area with new businesses and infrastructure, including a sawmill, cotton gin, and a local newspaper.
Despite Alford’s efforts to grow Holly Springs into a major industrial hub, challenges such as World War I, the Great Depression, and World War II slowed the town’s progress. Mid-20th century saw modest improvements, such as the installation of fluorescent streetlights and infrastructure updates, but significant growth did not occur until the 1980s. Holly Springs became notable for its strong Black community, with several prominent Black citizens holding leadership roles in town government and business.
Real transformation came in the late 20th century, starting with the town’s first sewage plant in 1987. Holly Springs experienced rapid growth in the 1990s and 2000s, as its population swelled from under 1,000 in 1992 to nearly 25,000 by 2010, benefiting from spillover growth from neighboring Cary and Apex. Today, Holly Springs is a thriving community that blends rich history with modern development.
